Navigate a scroll group's reference history in a PHYSICAL direction ('left' / 'right'),
resolving it to a logical back/forward for the current UI layout direction (RTL swaps the pair,
via resolveReferenceHistoryDirection). Backs the top toolbar's history buttons, which know
which way the user pointed rather than which way that is through the history.
The mapping is made here because layout direction is renderer state: readDirection reads the
document, which only this process has. The host exposes logical back/forward only. The
platform.navigateLeft/RightInReferenceHistory commands make the same mapping in the main
process, from the layout direction the window reports in its navigation context.
